How Quickly They Grow-up:Hillary Duff Engaged

Published by under Celebrity

Hillary Duff is engaged to be married to her boyfriend, Mike Comrie.  Duff portrayed “Lizze Maguire” on the Disney program of the same name.  Comrie is a forward for the Edmonton Oilers.

Duff, now 22, has been dating 28 Comrie for 2 years.

Hopefully they are one of the rare Hollywood couples that are able to have a long lasting marriage.   There are some Hollywood marriages that have lasted for years, it is just that we do not hear about them as much as we do the ones that are handled like teenagers going steady

Kate Gosselin Co-hosting “The View” in March

Published by under Celebrity, Television

While going through her divorce, Kate Gosselin co-hosted “The View” in August 2009.  Now she is set to return and co-host the show on March 11, 2009.  Although many would like to say otherwise, there are a lot of people that are drawn to Kate Gosselin.   If people were not watching the programs she appeared on then she would not be asked to make so many appearances.    The world, though they hate to admit it, is drawn to Kate Gosselin.

Have You Been Dusting Off Your Old Copy of “The Catcher in the Rye”

Published by under Books

This week it was announced that the legendary author, J.D. Salinger, has passed away at the age of 91.  Many thought the name sounded familiar and it should to those who remember reading the novel “The Catcher in the Rye” for their high school or college English class.

It has been years since I read the book or was required to read the book.  Because, to be honest, I think I just skimmed the pages to get through and really did not read it with any depth.  Now that I am older and am I not required to do any reading, reading has become more fun.  I have actually read some of those old college novels that I skimmed through and just read enough of to get by.    The second time around, these novels do not seem that bad.  A large part of me wishes that I would have appreciated those books years ago, but isn’t that they way life seems to work.   Being older does, hopefully, make you wiser and more appreciative of things.

The Catcher in the Rye is not one of the books that I still have, but I will be picking up a copy to see everything that I missed.

Will Conan O’Brien and his $45 Million Have the Last Laugh?

Published by under Television

Everyone knows by now that Conan O’Brien’s reign as the Tonight Show host will be over soon and Jay Leno will be taking over the position he once held.  NBC gave O’Brien and his staff a $45 million payout.   O’Brien’s last airdate on the Tonight show will be this Friday and Leno will return to the Tonight Show March 1st

Although it seems that O’Brien was seriously slighted, there are other parties that are very interested in him hosting a show.  FOX already seems interested in having Conan O’Brien come over to their network.

The whole situated does seem to stink for Conan.  At one time he was promised the position as host of the Tonight Show and now his job is being taken back.   Hopefully he find a great job another network and show NBC that they made a huge mistake in letting him leave.

Jon Gossenlin’s New York City Apartment Ransacked

Published by under Jon Gosselin

While visiting his 8 kids in Pennsylvania this Christmas , Jon Gosselin’s New York city apartment was ransacked.  Someone left a note which police are reviewing.

A quote on MSNBC.com given by Gosselin’s lawyer stated:

”[Jon] entered his apartment in Manhattan and was horrified, disheartened, and saddened to observe the devastation of his furniture, clothing and personal belongings, which were apparently slashed with a butcher knife by a very troubled and sick perpetrator,” Gosselin’s lawyer, Mark Jay Heller, said in a statement to Access Hollywood. “Jon immediately contacted me and facilitated the able assistance of the New York City Police Department who immediately dispatched an experienced detective to Jon’s apartment, where a forensic team commenced an intense investigation including photographing and fingerprinting of evidence at the crime scene.

This has to be a very scary event for anyone, especially someone with so many young children.   There are no reports about who actually committed the crime, but hopefully the person is apprehended quickly.

Whitehouse Dinner Crasher Posed with Vice President Joe Biden

Michaele and Tareq Salahi posing with Vice President Biden

The couple, Michaele and Tareq Salahi, that got into the Tuesday night dinner at the Whitehouse, even though they were not on the guest list, took a picture with Vice President Biden.  The picture was posted on Michaele Salahi’s Facebook page.    Apparently there is going to be a review of the security procedures, which is obviously needed.    If someone with evil intentions was able to breach security and get into the dinner we could have be hearing about a more catastrophic story.  This is not the Grammy’s that was crashed, it was the Dinner with the President.  Things that make you go “hmm””

Whitehouse Dinner Crashers

Apparently there were some uninvited guests at the Whitehouse for the State dinner on Tuesday night.  The couple were able to go through the security checkpoint and make it to the dinner.   They even posted pictures of themselves on their Facebook page.    This is an affluent D.C. couple that is reported to be auditioning for the “Real Housewives of Washington.”

I have few questions:

  1.  How were they able to get past the Secret Service, which is supposed to have the highest security in the country?  Maybe they needed to have some L.A. nightclub bouncers guarding the entrances.
  2. Will this couple have any federal charges filed against them for crashing the State dinner?  I don’t know if they should, but then again you cannot have anyone just breaching security and going wherever they want around  President Obama and his family.
  3. Will crashing the State dinner help or hurt the couple’s chances of being on the “Real Housewives of Washington?”  It is hard to tell when it comes to reality television.  They all have their own set of standards.
