Every Felt Like Getting Married Like a Princess-Disney Princess Wedding Gowns

October 15th, 2010 Posted in Wedding Tags: , ,

So many brides base their wedding dress choices based on childhood fantasies of what they thought their wedding would be like when they grew-up.  Now all those grown-up pricesses can have parts of their dreams come.  A new line of wedding dresses based on the Disney princesses  are being released by Alfred Angelo.

The Disney Fairy Tale Weddings by Alfred Angelo collection will be available in sizes 0 to 30W, at all Alfred Angelo Signature stores and select Alfred Angelo wholesale Partner Bridal Boutiques in 2011. All gowns will be priced $599 to $1,199.

Wedding Dresses:

  • The treasures of the sea inspired Ariel’s gown. The mermaid silhouette features re-embroidered lace, pearl beading, and sequin sparkles.
  • Aurora/Sleeping Beauty’s gown is romantic with a dreamy, willowy skirt for this slumbering princess.
  • Belle’s wedding dress, with a draped waistline is inspired by the iconic ballroom dance scene from the film and focuses on making a grand entrance.
  • Cinderella’s gown radiates with sparkle as its inspiration is the fairy tale’s enchanted glass slipper.
  • Jasmine’s wedding dress conveys freedom and individuality and as a result her shimmering soft satin gown is exotic with a bejeweled neckline and low cut back.
  • Snow White’s dress is inspired by nature, beauty and grace like the Disney Princess character herself.
  • The regal, one-shoulder taffeta gown for our newest princess, Tiana, reflects her independent spirit with an asymmetric bodice and ruched skirt.

In an effort to make an unforgettable engagement that would romantic for his girlfriend, Matt Cawley brought his fiancé to propose. He had diamond engagement ring hidden in a sand dollar. When his fiancé saw the sand dollar with the ring with attached she accidently knocked the sand dollar and ring into the rocks on the jetty where they were standing.
It would be a huge ouch to lose the $9 thousand ring, but thankfully the ring was insured.

Who Would You Want to Pick your Diamond Engagement Ring?

August 10th, 2010 Posted in Engagement, Jewelry, Wedding Tags: ,

At one point picking out the diamond engagement ring was all up to the guy.  But now things have changed from the days of yore.   There are so many different choices when it comes to diamond rings that the decision cannot just be made on the whim.  There are of course those that choose to go in a totally different direction and chose a different stone.   But for those that have their eye set on purchasing a diamond, there are many different characteristics of the diamond ring to select.

But when it comes to diamond rings, there are certain things to consider like the color of the diamond.  Not only are future brides having white diamonds on their fingers.  There are many that have fallen in love with their yellow, pink, or black diamond rings

There is also the decision on what cut to have for the diamond ring. You may want a cushion, emerald, heart, marquise, oval, radiant, pear, princess, round, or trilliant cut.  Of all these cuts the round diamonds are more prevalent than the rest.

Going beyond the diamond you also need to choose the metal of the ring.  Silver, white gold, yellow gold.

So with that all in mind, who would you want to chose your diamond engagement ring?

March 21st, 2010 Posted in Celebrity, Health Tags: , , ,

image On St. Patrick’s Day, when everyone was celebrating with green beer , and eating corned beef sandwiches, Star Jones was undergoing heart surgery. Her publicists says that the recent surgery is linked to surgery she had 30 years ago for thoracic cancer. She is said to be recovering well with friends and family.

According to the Advocate Christ Medical Center web site,

Thoracic cancer refers to several types of cancers that can develop in the different types of cells within the lungs, as well as less common cancers of the esophagus (which carries food from the mouth to the stomach), the trachea (windpipe), or the chest wall. Sometimes these cancers spread to nearby lymph nodes.

How Quickly They Grow-up:Hillary Duff Engaged

February 22nd, 2010 Posted in Celebrity Tags: , , , ,

Hillary Duff is engaged to be married to her boyfriend, Mike Comrie.  Duff portrayed “Lizze Maguire” on the Disney program of the same name.  Comrie is a forward for the Edmonton Oilers.

Duff, now 22, has been dating 28 Comrie for 2 years.

Hopefully they are one of the rare Hollywood couples that are able to have a long lasting marriage.   There are some Hollywood marriages that have lasted for years, it is just that we do not hear about them as much as we do the ones that are handled like teenagers going steady

Kate Gosselin Co-hosting “The View” in March

While going through her divorce, Kate Gosselin co-hosted “The View” in August 2009.  Now she is set to return and co-host the show on March 11, 2009.  Although many would like to say otherwise, there are a lot of people that are drawn to Kate Gosselin.   If people were not watching the programs she appeared on then she would not be asked to make so many appearances.    The world, though they hate to admit it, is drawn to Kate Gosselin.

Have You Been Dusting Off Your Old Copy of “The Catcher in the Rye”

January 29th, 2010 Posted in Books Tags: , , , , ,

This week it was announced that the legendary author, J.D. Salinger, has passed away at the age of 91.  Many thought the name sounded familiar and it should to those who remember reading the novel “The Catcher in the Rye” for their high school or college English class.

It has been years since I read the book or was required to read the book.  Because, to be honest, I think I just skimmed the pages to get through and really did not read it with any depth.  Now that I am older and am I not required to do any reading, reading has become more fun.  I have actually read some of those old college novels that I skimmed through and just read enough of to get by.    The second time around, these novels do not seem that bad.  A large part of me wishes that I would have appreciated those books years ago, but isn’t that they way life seems to work.   Being older does, hopefully, make you wiser and more appreciative of things.

The Catcher in the Rye is not one of the books that I still have, but I will be picking up a copy to see everything that I missed.

Will Conan O’Brien and his $45 Million Have the Last Laugh?

January 24th, 2010 Posted in Television Tags: , , , ,

Everyone knows by now that Conan O’Brien’s reign as the Tonight Show host will be over soon and Jay Leno will be taking over the position he once held.  NBC gave O’Brien and his staff a $45 million payout.   O’Brien’s last airdate on the Tonight show will be this Friday and Leno will return to the Tonight Show March 1st

Although it seems that O’Brien was seriously slighted, there are other parties that are very interested in him hosting a show.  FOX already seems interested in having Conan O’Brien come over to their network.

The whole situated does seem to stink for Conan.  At one time he was promised the position as host of the Tonight Show and now his job is being taken back.   Hopefully he find a great job another network and show NBC that they made a huge mistake in letting him leave.
