Robin Givens wished that Oprah had said more when Mike Tyson stalked about his abuse of Givens during their marriage. During his interview Tyson said that one of the best punches he threw was at Givens and at that moment Givens wished that Oprah had interjected and said it was wrong. Oprah apologized to Givens and other abused women and said that she regretted not saying more and letting Tyson know that he was wrong. Givens was on the Oprah show after the interview and accepted Oprah’s apology.
As a reporter or interviewer Oprah did do her job. She is there to ask questions and get answers without pushing across her personal beliefs. However, over the years the Oprah Winfrey show has been a place that she has expressed her opinions and beliefs so it may see out of character for many that she did not let Mike Tyson know that he was out of line.
